Hiren “Chico” Patel founded Heritage Hospitality Group (formerly known as S&R Development) in 2006. Chico began in Kosciusko, MS where he rapidly grew his development company and earned the support of top tier brands from industry leaders including Hilton, Marriott, and Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG).
Having been surrounded by the hospitality industry his entire life, Chico mastered at an early age the art of constructing and operating hotel assets towards profitability. He gained fundamental skills as a “hands-on” operator during the start of his career which he masterfully utilized to create hotel assets that outperformed his competition.
Chico’s wealth of knowledge and attention to detail has resulted in over 35 hotel projects throughout the U.S. resulting in over 3,000 active rooms to date. Having created a scalable infrastructure, HHG engages in multiple projects across the country in high barrier to entry markets.
As the team leader, Chico engages everyone in the company to strive for excellence and results. He works daily with his senior staff in identifying new projects and maximizing returns on assets currently in the company’s portfolio.
Chico attended Mississippi State University and now resides in Ridgeland, Mississippi with his wife and three children.
Mitesh “Mike” Patel joined his brother Chico after graduating from Mississippi State University in 2007. Mike led the company’s division for developing residential assets. As the commercial projects began rapidly evolve, Mike transitioned into the hospitality division by supporting his brother in projects that were being developed simultaneously across the country.
Mike was also surrounded by hotels his entire life while growing up in Kosciusko, MS. He skillfully mastered every aspect of hotel operations from marketing and sales to front desk operations to housekeeping. Under Mike’s direction, many of the properties received excellent inspection scores and achieved high customer satisfaction ratings.
Mike enjoys developing construction projects and including the procurement of FF&E for all projects. Coupled with his creativity and ability to quickly understand ever-changing floor plans and design changes from top tier brands such as Hilton, Marriott, and IHG, he has been able to create award winning hotels that rank high in guest surveys.
Mike currently resides in Ridgeland, MS with his wife and two children.
Ali serves on the Heritage team as VP of Finance and General Counsel. As a long time friend of Chico, they were reunited professionally during the formation of HHG. His roles include securing franchises, feasibility analysis, equity sourcing, and debt financing. As part of the executive team, Ali also serves as general counsel overseeing legal compliance for Heritage.
Prior to joining the company, Ali was in private practice specializing in mass tort litigation. He earned his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law and his Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University.
Kishan Gopal has a broad range of expertise in business development. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Business Administration and joined HHG with an emphasis on human resources and business development. He actively engages in site selection, market research, and franchise availability.
Having been raised in a family that specializes in the hospitality sector, Kishan understands the development cycle from conception to operations. He is also intimately involved during the construction phase and manages subcontractors on multiple projects simultaneously to ensure that projects meet or beat their deadlines.
Kishan has held management positions in other corporations before joining HHG and has been able to use his skills to oversee multiple departments. He is passionate about the hospitality industry and is able to multi-task numerous projects to completion.
Todd Reeves joined the Heritage Hospitality team in 2015 fostering relationships with investors and financial institutions. Todd has become the liaison to local public officials in all markets where Heritage Hospitality has current and future developments. He brings a well-rounded wealth of knowledge to the Heritage team having been around the construction industry his whole life, yet, he has been involved in numerous political campaigns over the last 15 years. Todd is a self-described people person possessing an uncanny ability to meet people and develop friendships with them in all walks of life.
Todd spent over a decade working in his families HVAC company allowing him to view the construction industry at every phase. As VP of the company, Todd oversaw all aspects of the company including marketing, finances, employee relations, and job estimating. The family’s HVAC company initially partnered with Chico and Mike on residential projects. Todd and Chico quickly built a professional relationship that expanded into commercial endeavors in the hospitality industry.
Todd Reeves graduated in 2002 from Mississippi State University where he serves on the Bulldog Club Board of Directors. He and his wife live in Flowood, MS with their two boys.
Dr. Jay Darji has been a developer in the hospitality industry since 1997 when he and his father acquired land across from their local hospital and built their first Holiday Inn Express. In 2012, Chico built an 81-key Hampton Inn for Jay and from that time, mutual respect and admiration resulted in a strategic alliance. The project was completed 6 weeks ahead of schedule and $500,000 under budget.
Dedicated to excellence with a relentless work ethic, Jay has applied his skills as a highly trained ER physician to his passion for entrepreneurial endeavors in the hospitality sector. At HHG, he is actively involved in new business development and helping investors grow their portfolio with HHG. He is sought after in the professional medical community for investing guidance.
Jay joined forces with Chico to create a national group of like-minded investors focused on high quality new construction ventures exclusively developed by the Heritage Hospitality Group. He has helped create nearly $100 million in hotels assets while pioneering a private equity network that is focused on strong yields and compounding growth.
In his spare time, Jay enjoys spending time with his three daughters and volunteering at the local Humane Society.
